Hyundai has launched a new version of their pride car, the 2011 Sonata SE. A turbo-charged version and a hybrid version of this fly down sedan will be available by next year along with the added features they fitted in the Sonata. Although there is no full information on what you can see in the interior yet the Sonata is already known for its high feature content. Another thing about the SE is the 2.4-liter Theta II four-cylinder engine delivering 200HP and Fluidic-Sculpture body of the Sonata SE that is captivating.

The Lexus CT 200h is Lexus’ attempt to stay afloat in the hybrid market. With Rival car makers BMW and Audi releasing their answers to the Toyota Prius and other such brands, it was time for Lexus to hit the mark. The CT 200h hybrid drivetrain is the same as the unit in the Toyota Prius. It combines a 1.8-liter gasoline engine with a electric motor. The car can run on electric power for up to 1.2 miles (nearly 2km) at speeds up to 28 mph (45 kph).

What you see above is Ford’s latest Car Concept the Ford Start. The study was made to create more affordable car by using fewer materials. Having an aluminum body with high strength steel it reduces the car’s weight while keeping the car’s safety capability. Another cool thing about this car is that the body panels were made out of recyclable materials which are molded in with the paint. The Ford Start Concept is equipped with Ford’s Ecoboost engine that can run at an estimated 105-110 hp. Although Ford has mentioned that it is not yet in production, we think it is something worth waiting for.

A new hybrid member was introduced by BMW as the Concept 5 Series ActiveHybrid. This will use a 40KW electric motor for its full hybrid function in city speeds. Other features include a monitoring navigation route for an advanced preparation of controls and full electric implementation. The debut model has a compact sedan body that features the standard hybrid contours, wheels, grille, and headlamps.

This is probably the coolest and most technical use of four-wheel hybrid technology available. Porsche jumps into the hybrid bandwagon but not in the conventional way. Instead of using heavy and expensive batteries, the new 911 GT3 R Hybrid uses a technology first developed for the Williams Formula 1 team. The front wheels are driven by an electromechanical flywheel that generates power when braking. The fast-spinning flywheel is made of a composite material that’s infused with magnetic particles which turns it into a permanent magnet. For brief periods of time, the system can deliver about 160 added horsepower for quicker getaways or acceleration.

People generally drive a large SUV because the like the powerful feeling of driving such a vehicle. That being said, a lot of people were worried at the announcement of a 2WD hybrid version of the 2009 Cadillac Escalade. While it may be at the top it’s class for hybrid SUV’s it could actually be more economical to buy 2 separate cars, a large SUV and a smaller, more gas-friendly car, than it would be to try to combine the two into this hybrid Escalade.

Eco-friendly and supercar mix as well as water and oil. They just don’t go together in the same sentence. But Lamborghini’s out to change that when they reveal their hybrid Gallardo in 2015. The system will work like the modern-day hybrids that we have today, in which an electric motor takes over the duties of the gas engine when you’re toiling in traffic or when you’re within city limits. No word on the specs, pricing, or even how the car will look like as of the moment.
