Kia VG

Kia VG
Here’s a first look at the rendered images of the upcoming near-luxury ride from Kia. Tentatively named VG, the car is sort of an replacement to the unpopular Amanti. From what the images offer, the VG looks pretty good and posh and will reportedly pack in a 2.4 liter direct injection four cylinder and a 3.8 liter V6. We hope our expectations about Kia’s new baby will be met when it is unveiled in the next Detroit Auto Show. We’ll hold our breath ’til then.

The Matrix Pontiac Firebird: Movie Star

The Matrix Pontiac Firebird: Movie Star
Your date with a real-life moviestar may just be a few days away. This 1967 Pontiac Firebird was the actual car that Niobe (Jada Pinkett-Smith’s character) drove in the 2003 blockbuster, The Matrix: Reloaded. It’s controlled by an Edelbrock machine mated to an automatic transmission rolling on Cragar SS rims. After completion of the film, the car was stored in a temperature-controlled garage in Los Angeles meaning it’s still in great working condition. Of course, there’d be a few dents in the car here and there, but consider those to be battle scars from the making of one of the biggest movies of all time. And the best part of your purchase, should you win the bid, is that every penny will go Donorschoose.org, a non-profit website where public school teachers broadcast their projects, looking for donors. You have a week to decide – the blue pill or the red pill or this midnight black car. $8,350+.

Bugatti Type 57C: Ettore Bugatti’s Own

Bugatti Type 57C: Ettore Bugattis Own
How does a car maker’s car look like? Here’s the answer – this specimen was Ettore Bugatti’s own Bugatti. This Type 57, with chassis number 57335, was the birthday gift of the factory workers for Le Patron, Ettore Bugatti himself. It changed ownership a few times since Bugatti’s passing but the car was never restored in any way. It remains original yet fully functional. The car got serviced by Bugatti but they preserved it’s originality as much as possible, and protected the car as World War II ravaged France. The unique interior was the handiwork of Ettore’s son, Jean, and is said to be one of his last designs. Now you can get the chance to own a piece of history, a page in the car-making Bible once the car goes under the hammer at The Gooding & Company Pebble Beach Auction in August 15 to 16. You can view the bid form here.

Auto Union D-Type: Der Führer’s Favorite

Auto Union D Type: Der Führers Favorite
Historical and rare, this Auto Union D-Type Grand Prix racer is up for auction in August at the Bonhams & Butterfields sale at the Quail Lodge in Carmel, California. This car, chassis number 19, is only one of three in existence today. It has a 3.0 liter V12 supercharged engine developing a monstrous 485 horsepower – a brutal number even at today’s standards. Oh, this car was also regarded as Hitler’s favorite. He didn’t race the car though, he simply watched his driver friends rule the podiums during the ‘39 Grand Prix season. You can get the car and get a rare piece of history that goes along with it. The August 14 auction estimates the car’s price will fetch about $8,000,000.
